I have been designing and photographing first year cake smashes for years and years. I chat with the parents, we come up with a theme, work together and make an adorable set happen for their session. There is usually a lot of money and time spent on designing these cake smashes. I have noticed while the parents always love the final images the common theme amongst the parents is that they would just like a small print of it because they don't really want the cake smash image hung on the living room wall. I understand, they'd usually choose a more classic, simple and timeless image for an enlargement. This got me thinking about ways I could tweak the cake smash to become a more timeless and simple expression of your child's first birthday... and since the Simple Smash was born.

The Simple Smash is exactly that. It consists of a naked cake instead of a themed cake. A solid colored background will be decorated with minimal decorations drawing inspiration from nature. The main goal with this type of smash is to create a timeless artwork that you will love to look back at in years to come.
